our bit of heaven

We’ve been busy hoping to get the new windows in and perhaps start painting the exterior.

In the midst of work on the house, we were also anxious to get a closer look at the creek. Eric went to work with the machete and cleared the thicket of blackberry bushes, making it possible.

The first glimpse. There’s still some work to be done with some sort of stepping stone arrangement for easier access. Β This is where he dreams of launching the kayak…

The bird highway. It’s still a bit low, but a couple of days of rain did add some noticeable water flow.

A view from below…

Signs of some beaver activity.

Perhaps some day I’ll get a look at a real live beaver neighbor.

Listen to the mustn’ts, child. Listen to the don’ts. Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me… Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.Β

  1. Your bit of heaven is awesome, Gunta! Love the creek! Oh, what nature will offer you in photo ops from it! Sorry to be behind on your posts, somehow out west I tore my meniscus in two places and had to hightail it back to the east coast for surgery. Fun fun.

      • Thanks Gunta. I had to giggle on your last comment, it’s how I feel! lol Left Delaware where I had surgery and we’re now in SC overlooking Lake Greenwood while I recoup. It’s all about being alongside water that makes you feel oh-so-good. πŸ™‚

    • The quote was appropriate indeed since we’ve both waited so long for the joy and happiness we’ve come to share. I suppose it’s never too late in life and appreciated all the more for having waited so long! πŸ˜€

  2. It sounds like you’ve been very busy but what a great location! Beautiful! I hope you aren’t getting too exhausted by all the work and are getting a chance to relax and rest? x

    • Actually, Eric is doing most of the ‘work’. I help out when I can, but we take time off when needed. Eric finally paddled the creek in the kayak yesterday. He really got a big kick out of that.

    • Thank you for the sweet wishes, Peggy. If you had seen the house before we started working on it, you’d know why I’ve been somewhat missing in action with the blogging. πŸ˜€ Someday we might even move down there for good! πŸ˜‰
