sunshine on the water makes me smile

Toward the end of the day the sun managed to drop through the clouds to light up the water. Does anyone else see the heart shaped cloud? or perhaps it’s a backward “Q”, or a donut? Taken from the Otter Crest Loop near Cape Foulweather. It’s rare to see the sea so calm.

    • The funny bit was we were on this very narrow, one-way road with no place to stop while I was watching that amazing light off the ocean. I didn’t think I’d be able to catch it until a very convenient pull-off showed up. Needless to say, I was having fits until that wide spot showed up.

    • No, certainly not my town. I live a good half hour’s drive from the coast. This particular shot was taken on a trip to the north. Perhaps our coast ought to have a patent on beautiful sunsets, but then there are the foggy days and nights that are the bane of photographers like Kerry when they come to visit.

    • Pretty amazing. We were on this one way road when I first spotted that light with nowhere to stop. Luckily it was still there once we found a pullout. It’s truly amazing when it lights up out there on the ocean near the horizon. I’ve seen that effect several times, but never this striking.
