Eastern Sierras

There’s just something about mountains and the way the altitude plays with the light. Sierras-0530Given that these were taken in mid-February, there should have been way more snow up there.Sierras-0534Amazing how the trees just seem to cling to what looks like solid granite.Sierras-0542I can’t help but wonder how this tree manages to cling to that boulder.

Another glorious Sierra day in which one seems to be dissolved and absorbed and sent pulsing onward we know not where. Life seems neither long nor short, and we take no more heed to save time or make haste than do the trees and stars. This is true freedom, a good practical sort of immortality.

  1. I’m envious of your trip. thanks for sharing the great photos.
I had the same thought about those trees. I think of all the effort we go to to grow plants here, while those trees grow and thrive out of a rocky cliff! Nature is amazing.

  2. Definitely something about mountains … and altitude and color and light and clouds … I’ve loved them all my life, without ever being able to put my finger on the exact reason. It’s enough just to be there.
