perseverence

Have to admire the determination of this tree to withstand the Oregon storms on that rocky surface.

    • It sure looks like the same tree! I’m so glad to bring back some good memories. It’s certainly a fantastic coast. Though your everglade adventure is sounding pretty fantastic. I’d love to hear or see more of your kayaking, since I’ve just started paddling myself!

  1. The constant wind provides a stress to the wood that actually strengthens it. One of my sons was telling me how the geodesic dome that they had in Arizona to simulate life on Mars had some trees that grew well…until they toppled over. It was determined that the fact there was no wind made the heartwood weak.

  2. Reminiscent of my little “Colorado bonsai” pine that has clung to the top of a boulder for some 40 years or so since I first noticed it … without appearing to have grown at all. Yet it perseveres.
