the sky on fire

the show in the sky last night… my timing is off. I missed the best part.
clouds-6793When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it–always.ย

  1. Its still lovely – I saw an amazing sky the other night which was composed of a rainbow and light that i hadnt witnessed for awhile – real drama but I was just too tired – I had been shooting solid for 2 days and had driven several hundred miles and so I let it go – you just cant capture everything it seems lol

    • Picture that string of clouds just above the trees a slightly brighter orange and less of the dark shades. It literally looked like that string of clouds was on fire. But I’m glad I caught even this much and happy you enjoyed it! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Love the silken look of those clouds. Reminds me of silk tops used in felting ๐Ÿ™‚ Also a very pertinent quote for these days and as you have witnessed in your lifetime, the tyrants do indeed not last.

    • Thanks, Joanna. Yes, if I can’t have waves, then I’ll settle for clouds. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s good to see them returning after far too many days of completely cloudless skies.

  3. That is amazing; I love both the clouds and the lighting. I would like to share your work with my facebook and G+ buddies (about 600 of them are photography buffs and would really appreciate what you are doing). If you would add an application like Shareaholic it would make it easy to do that.

    • Thank you, Charlie for the kind words, but I’m afraid I don’t have a clue what “Shareaholic” is. I love blogging, but generally shy away from social network stuff.

    • Thanks, Lavinia and thanks for naming the clouds. I’m never sure about their labels. I just love watching them. There have been too many cloudless days lately. These were a special treat.

  4. Isn’t it something, what a range of colors hot to cold, russet to indigo, amazing sight. The upper reaches just let fly into anything is possible, come this way, drink me, follow the yellow brick road. I believe you look for such things, consciously or not, that kind of near holy hope that defies treachery. Bless your heart. Nice to read some Ghandi who was so sure, so sure, so determined that hope and justice would rule the day. Damn if he wasn’t right most of the time.

  5. Beautiful photo of a beautiful sky, Gunta. And your choice of a quote by our brother Gandhi is so apropos of the way the clouds have formed – the hopeful positive faithful clouds above, unperturbed by the roiling clouds below. Kudos!

Here’s another Gandhi quote that I see on another of my favorite blogs (CorrenteWire).

First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.

    • Thank you, mk. It was truly beautiful. I saw it developing at home and jumped in the car to try to catch it, but it was already fading by the time I got where I didn’t have power poles and such in the way. Gandhi is an inspiration for sure.

    • They were pretty wild. Wish I could have found a place to pull over about five minutes earlier. What a show that was. I’m sorry to hear of the latest wildfire in your area, but it does make for some impressive skies.
