walkin’ on water

Nothing quite like a stroll on the beach with the dog…bandon-0694Take a moment from time to time to remember that you are alive. I know this sounds a trifle obvious, but it is amazing how little time we take to remark upon this singular and gratifying fact. By the most astounding stroke of luck an infinitesimal portion of all the matter in the universe came together to create you and for the tiniest moment in the great span of eternity you have the incomparable privilege to exist.

      • I’m so glad you did and absolutely, keep playing. I’ve just returned from a day with the Royal Photographic Society where ‘finishing’ is positively encouraged and celebrated. Thank heaven for that 🙂

    • Sent you the original. Bill Bryson is a favorite author of mine. The quote came from a book where he writes a very humorous account of returning to the states after 20 years in the UK. I try to get the audiobooks from the library since he reads them himself and it adds to the funny bits.

    • Photoshop has gone beyond where I can follow, but Adobe’s Lightroom and NIK is a gas to play with. I’m just having way too much fun with those two programs. Of course I imagine there will be those who object to post-editing, but it’s fantastic to create images as art rather than whatever the camera happens to capture. I think of it as painting without all the mess. 😀

      • That’s exactly what I meant to imply in my comment on the darkroom. Photographers have always tinkered with the raw image, dodging, burning, and a host of other dubious sounding practices. Do you think Ansel Adams got those pictures just pressing the shutter button?

        • We’re very much on the same page here….. then again, the ones that really crack me up are the Ansel wannabes converting to B&W, but objecting to other variations of editing. Of course all of it is very much subjective so I see no hard and fast right or wrong….
