Meandering with camera…
My life is like a stroll upon the beach, as near to the ocean’s edge as I can go.
― Henry David Thoreau
Another breath of purest fresh air. Bliss.
Rather ironic that just beyond the beach the annual slash burns had commenced, stirring up my allergies something awful. Brush and branches from the clear-cuts are burned, as is all the other plant life that grows so very wild here. For several weeks after the first soaking rain, everyone is burning the piles that have accumulated during the dry summer. The smoke inland gets to be as thick as some of the fogs I’ve photographed…. and I can hardly breathe…
Such contrast between the nonchalant gull and those crashing waves…
Yep… the gulls don’t seem to have a problem with the crashing waves. It’s even more fun to see them diving into them when they’re fishing.
Parading for you, Gunta.
😀 You got that right!
Looks like that little guy is enjoying a quiet beach stroll all to himself…nice capture Gunta. 🙂
Thanks, LuAnn… it was so nice of him to cooperate.
Gorgeous photo, I really needed that…Thank you.
So very happy to oblige. And thank you!
Besides the magnificent sea and sky, I love how you captured this little gull in mid step! Perfection!
Catching that mid-step cracked me up when I downloaded this. Of course I didn’t know I had it until then. Thanks!
The perfect caption for a wonderful picture! And a perpetual stroll on the beach makes for a fine life, indeed!
Should have used Thoreau’s actual words for my title (‘a stroll upon the beach’), but close enough. Glad you enjoyed the picture.
WOW! From Roger and from me – AMAZING PHOTO!
Nice to see someone taking it easy at the beach 😉
Lucky for the gulls, Sis has learned that she can’t catch them especially if they’re in the water.
I love everything about this photo Gunta! 🙂
Thanks, Chilli. It’s the gull that added the finishing touch for me! 😉
OK, if you insist, love it, gull and all.
Of course I insist! 😀 The gull was a bonus. 😉 (Thanks!)
Well, I had just noticed the text above the comment box tonight after all the comments I’ve left, not very observant of me.
That just changed recently. I like to shake things up a bit now and then….. 🙂 But I’m quite glad you did!
I love those colors…and the drama of the clouds and waves, too…wonderful, Gunta.
Thanks, Scott. Certainly lots of drama out there.
Great shot. You know how to nail these seascapes! I love the crashing, turbulent waves in the distance, contrasting with the Thoreau scene in the foreground.
Thanks, Nick! Perhaps I succeed because it’s a scene where I feel so much at home.
This really made me smile. He has such a proprietary air about him. “This is MY beach, for my own private use.” 🙂
When, of course, the reality is that this is MY beach, for my own private use! 😉
Hehehe. I know that’s just how you feel, Gunta. 😀
And there walks Thoreau, looking for all the world like a seagull in a spectacular seascape. Lovely job.
[giggles] Jonathan Livingston Thoreau? Thanks!
[ Smiles ] A very beautiful picture combined with an excellent quote from, Henry David Thoreau.
Nicely done, by the way!
Thank you very much, Renard!
