scarlet jewel in the sun

As happens sometimes, a moment settled and hovered and remained for much more than a moment. And sound stopped and movement stopped for much, much more than a moment.

    • I think the light from different angles created that hot pink look. In real life it was more the scarlet shade as in the second shot. Wow! That’s a really nice thing to say, thank you!!! 😉

    • Don’t know the first thing about dragonflies, but that scarlet red was pretty spectacular. Even more so in real life with the sparkle that the camera didn’t catch.

    • Nor have I… almost tripped over myself to get to the camera without scaring it off. Luckily, it really, really seemed to like that flower and allowed me to circle around for the shot from front and back.

    • Thanks, Michael. I’d never seen one that color either. Pity the camera didn’t catch the shimmer of that exquisite creature. Today it was a black one with white wings buzzing around here.

    • That’s funny…. once upon a long, long time ago in California we lived in a trailer where the kitchen window looked out on the porch where we had a feeder set up. I arranged a tripod in the sink with a shutter release cable. Caught some good ones, but they are pretty faded with age. Wish I could figure out a way to hang a feeder where I could do something similar here.
