It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.

  1. This is a lovely photograph Gunta. Nature is amazing. I was sitting on top of a cliff this morning shortly after sunrise, surrounded by purple heather and looking out on an azure ocean and I was marvelling at it all. Summer came to Cornwall this weekend and it’s looks like it’s going to be staying awhile. The first proper summer weather for 4 years and it’s marvellous. 🙂

    • I’m so glad to hear you’re finally having a proper summer. Then again I’m happy that things have cooled down a touch around here. (and hopefully some of the crowds have returned to wherever they came from.) 😉

    • So very true….. on the other hand, when they show up in the garden where I don’t want them, it gets a bit tougher to admire them 😉 (just saying…)

  2. Brave and fine, and I liked Darwin’s words you posted, too. We hairless, tailless
plodders got superb dexterity and good brains with adaptability too.
The beautious fern you photographed looks a bit like the Monkey Paw one I’ve
got going on 12 years now, in a massie open wire hanging planter, sending out
shoots and furry feelers from every direction. Old best friend.

    • Darwin was a wise man, indeed. A bit tough to imagine those lost souls rejecting his teaching in this day and age.
This fern was shot in the wild. How nice to have such a friend for so long.
