mountain layers

utah-4939The Wasatch Front, Utah…  in the Rocky Mountains.

We changed again, and yet again, and it was now too late and too far to go back, and I went on. And the mists had all solemnly risen now, and the world lay spread before me.

    • (I could have sworn I already posted a response to this…. the mist seems to be fogging my brain, too.)
But thank you for the lovely comment. I reread ‘Great Expectations’ just several years ago when I was pinned down with a broken ankle. Dickens really is a great read.

  1. Heartthrobbingly beautiful. The green rolling banks up close and heading into pale gray far far away. I love the Dickens quote too, the human spirit thrilled with adventuring into the unknown, for which that author always rewards.

    • It also takes me back to one of my favorite places on this planet… 🙂 Wish it was closer to the coast, thus easier to visit more often. Though I shouldn’t knock our Coastal Range, nor the Cascades… so much beauty, so little time…

  2. When we lived in Colorado we visited friends who lived up one mountain….and then later, friends who lived at the bottom….and I think I prefered the view from the bottom. The majesty of the peaks and the play with the sky was constant.
