the power and the majesty

To really appreciate the scale in this one, you have to look at the gulls and the murre colony nesting near or at the top of the monster sized cliffs here. Sadly I didn’t have a human figure I could include for this purpose.IMG_2749_2Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

    • Totally mind-boggling, really. Wish there was a way to convey how truly huge they are in real life. Last night we felt the incoming storm that those waves predicted. I love this coast.

    • Do you remember Elephant Rock? You looked down on it from Coquille Point. Elephant Rock is just off the left edge of this shot.
Or…. if that doesn’t help, it’s part of the massive rocks that are clumped between the South Jetty and Face Rock.

    • The Murres just cover those cliffs out there…. also lots of Cormorants and Guillemots and the Puffins should be nesting there soon. Not to mention all the others along with the ubiquitous gulls. I lust for a longer lens…..

    • Unless the human was up on the cliff (which happens to be illegal), they would definitely be swept out to sea. But it’s so hard to convey the full size of that cliff and the waves. It’s pretty potent.

    • Thank you for the comment… I’ve been practicing lately and the waves have been cooperating. These moments are beyond thrilling. It’s pretty hard to truly show the size of that cliff in a flat image.

    • Thanks, Susan. This winter/spring seems to have been exceptional with the impressive waves crashing on shore…. or it could be I’ve been timing my visits better. It’s even more jaw-dropping to be there in real life.

    • If only that were true, but it’s the nasty little housekeeping bits that get neglected so bad. Luckily we had a good soaking rain today, so the cupboards got replenished… otherwise might be some slim pickins around here….. 😉 Some day I might even tackle them nasty little dust bunnies. 😀
