and it looks like the world will survive (for now)…

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature — the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.”

  2. I have shared similar words with troubled loved ones after life altering experiences…there is hope, because the mountains will still be there in the morning…and morning will come…it always does…and we go on. Thank you, friend…and such a beautiful photo, too…haunting and comforting at once….

    • Yes, let’s hear it for Rachel power! She certainly was an example of woman power, despite rough treatment by the chemical industry. The struggle continues. She’s a hero in my book!

  3. The Mayans predicted events beyond 2012 so where all this ‘end of the world’ stuff came from I don’t know. The poor scribe charged with writing out the calendar just got tired I think and said ‘can I stop now? I’ll do the rest later, I promise’. Beautiful picture Gunta. 🙂

    • Well, that would blow my theory that it was a bad translation which amounted to the end of an era instead of the world. I was rather hoping for a new era since this one rather sucked. Though by the looks of their writing by chipping away at huge rocks, you couldn’t blame the guy for wanting to take a break. 😉
      Thanks, Chilly.

      • It is still a new era. The 14th baktun. A Mayan baktun lasts 396 years apparently. I was reading about this yesterday. So as well as wishing poeple happy new year, I guess we should be wishing people a happy new baktun too. Lets hope this one is better than the last. 🙂

  4. …the repeated refrains of nature …. What a beautiful line. It is perhaps in the cycle of continuity we can find a peace. That is why I find looking at the world so relaxing. Thank you. I enjoy your I tires so much. Andrea
