approaching storm
This one brought hail and wind and rain…. lovely!
“Those born to wealth, and who have the means of gratifying every wish, know not what is the real happiness of life, just as those who have been tossed on the stormy waters of the ocean on a few frail planks can alone realize the blessings of fair weather.”
― Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo

I believe there is a lot of truth in those words, Gunta…and such a beautiful photo, too…wonderful clouds over the water…and I love the remaining pilings after the dock is long gone….
Thank you Scott, for your lovely words.
Most welcome, dear Gunta.
I miss these types of storms. Can you tell I am still missing Oregon? Blessings to you my kindred spirit.
I might have guessed!
I love that quote….so true. I’m finding that appreciation is a gift. So are your lovely photos that you share. Thanks for that!
Thank you Nancy. I appreciate your visits and comments so much!
Good picture – I like that patch of blue in the top right!
The weather this time of year makes for some interesting skies. Thanks Andrew.
The skies are singing for you Gunta!
I’m thrilled, but I suspect some Christmas travelers might not be as happy. This latest storm has shut down the major interstate highway (I-5) that runs from Mexico to Canada because of a blizzard that hit near the Oregon-California border. Lucky for me, we didn’t get any snow along the coast here.
Looks like that must have been what I will call an enjoyable storm. Lovely pic.
Oh it was fantastic! Love this kind of weather.
Super stormy shot Gunta!
Mmmm… I just love this kind of weather, as long as the stuff leaking out of the clouds doesn’t turn into white stuff that sticks.
What a dramatic pic, Gunta. I hope you hurried on home after taking it.
Oh no! The hail lasted maybe five minutes and then the clouds turned from ominous to fantastic. I love this kind of weather. The snow storms east of the Coast Range of mountains is a different matter altogether. I’m not too thrilled with the white stuff. Hope you stay safe as you head north into the storm…
Mmm those skies look very familiar Gunta. We’ve had quite a bit of hail mixed in with the showers we’ve been having. The last two days however, the rain has been relentless. Sadly an awful lot of people are dealing with flooded homes once again, just before Christmas. The ground just cannot absorb anymore water and there’s more to come. A nice quote. This is a book I have never read. I think perhaps I should.
Beautiful picture and beautiful quote Gunta
Thanks, Dallas. The quote is a good one to keep in mind in the midst of the stormy waters….
Wonderful shot, love it – by the way so Alexandre Dumas is among my top 5 favorite authors…
So happy that you enjoyed both.
We’re expecting our first snow storm tomorrow…could be nothing or could be a foot or more.
Snuggle up with a hot chocolate and stay warm! I would be quite happy to never see another snow flake….
I’m with you on this Gunta.
Lucky me, I’ve settled where snow is a rare occurrence. Hope you’re equally lucky, though I gather you’re missing your warmer Spanish climate.
